He is working to revitalize relations.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken is traveling this week to Ethiopia and Niger with the goal of bolstering relations with countries in Africa while countering advances being made on the African continent by China and Russia.
He is not the only diplomat in Africa this week. Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya will visit The Gambia and Senegal. Assistant Secretary of State for Education and Cultural Affairs Lee Satterfield will be traveling to South Africa.
“You’ll be seeing this as the year of travel of U.S. officials to Africa,” said Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Molly Phee last week. “We’ve already seen the First Lady and the Treasury Secretary as well as Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield on the continent, and I expect to see many more leaders of the administration visiting to deepen and expand our partnerships.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Blinken to seek God’s guidance as he meets with leaders in Ethiopia and Niger.
- For U.S. officials as they seek to diplomatically counter the influences of Russia and China on the African continent.
